Banjul has distinct dry and wet seasons. The
weather can generally be described as sub-tropical. November to May is
glorious with golden sunshine and cool, crisp air. Temperatures can be
as low as 7°C. The dry wind called "Harmattan" blows in from the Sahara
at this time blessing the city with a dry and pleasant winter. The
rains come down in June to continue till October, and the average
rainfall can be up to 40 inches. Summer is hot and humid (June to
October) with temperatures ranging between 27 and 35°C. The redeeming
feature of summer is that the evenings and early mornings are cool.
